send executable file via emailI love to use Gmail. Gmail is cool. The reason is because it allows one to attach files and download files quickly from attachment. One day, I tried to send an executable file (.exe format) to my friend.

The file can be attached to Gmail. But then, when I press the “Send” mail button, I got an error message.

security reason

Due to security reasons, Gmail does not allow one to send any executable format files.

Here are ways you can use to solve this matter:

  1. Add your .exe format file compression format using WinRar or WinZip. The receiver can Unrar and Unzip it later.add to winrar
  2. Change the .exe file format extension to other format.

folder options

By default, most PC wouldn’t show the extension of a file. To be able to view the file extension, you can enable it by go to Tools > Folder Options > View.

Untick the “Hide extensions for known file types”

change extension
If you change a file name extension, the file may become unusable.
Are you sure you want to change it?

Choose “Yes”.

The file extension can be changed back to .exe format later by the receiver.
