Facebook was launched by Harward student Mark Zuckerberg and his roommates in Febuary 2004, but it didn’t turn a profit until late 2009.

Facebook actually earned a lot of money and also created many new profitable industries that benefits itself and also for other people. Some industry sources claimed that Facebook made between $600- $700 million in 2009, the incomes are from brand advertising, Microsoft advertising, Facebook credits and performance advertising.
In July 2010, Facebook teamed with Amazon to provide shoppers with purchase recommendations and upcoming birthday reminders so that a user can purchase gifts through Amazon website and send to friends with birthday.
Currently, the value of Facebook is more than $20 billion.
