The History of Search Engines and Timelines

The search engine is always described as the place to find all the information we want.

However, many of us do not actually know the history of ‘Search’. People around the world are searching everyday, search engines that provide most relevant and latest results are subjected to attract a lot of visitors. And this is why finding stuff on the Internet has became billion dollar business. In another words, old design search engine no frequent updates will loose its status.

Before Google became Internet giant as of today, Yahoo! was the dominating the Internet world. Back in the year 1994, Jeffy and David’s Guide to the World Wide Web began. The guide was then renamed Yahoo!

Some of the other search engines created are LookSmart, WebCrawler, Lycos, DMOZ open directory project, AltaVista, Ask, MSN, etc. Yet some already changed their name.

The situations changed in the year 2000 beyond where Microsoft and Google started to control the search engine market. Nowadays, comes the real time search engine like Twitter. So, what will the search engine might look like in future?
